Finally Spring

Here at 4,000 feet on the Southern edge of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Spring is starting to finally show itself with the blooming of our lilacs. The peonies are still hiding, but the lilacs are showing themselves.

Purple is my daughter's favorite color, so I have always gravitated towards it, and that makes lilacs one of my favorite blooms. They make the whole house smell wonderful.

The vignette was put together quickly and I am very new at this, but loving every learning moment.

This chocolate pot, plate, cup and saucer belonged to my grandmother and are approximately circa 1890's. I remember, when I was little, my mother used to keep extra pennies in the chocolate pot.

The other sweet chocolate pot, with the pink roses on it, is from a collection of my mother's. I hope to be able to use some of the other pots in future posts.

Here they are in all their glory, right from my back yard, lilacs. This time of year I fill the house with them.

Happy Spring everyone.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter Everyone

I always have such a hard time choosing between formal and "fun" when it comes to the Easter table. My mother always went toward the formal, so I think this will be the table setting on Mulberry Street this year.

Thank you Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch, for teaching us how to do the Bunny Fold. Always a favorite, and this year requested by my grandsons.

Thinking of my grandsons, I am teaching the use of the knife rest this Easter.

Easter always means bring out the Royal Albert; dinner plate right on down to bread and butter plate.

A little extra sweets take their place between the charger and the goblets. Yum.

Please pass the salt and pepper.

A recent Home Goods find fits right in with the Easter theme.

I just love how all of the shades of pink, green and gold go together.

Again, Happy Easter Everyone.

Almost Easter

It's almost time for Easter. Time for reflection and time for family.

The colors for this Easter table were taken from these two sweet little bunnies.

Easter always seems to flag that Spring should begin and the colors here are pastels of Spring.

These little bunnies were a recent Home Goods find and set my mind toward an Easter table.

This little chick was a last minute find and so badly needed to be included in the Easter theme.

So much fun to go to the dish room and see what is there that will blend together.

Pinks, greens, yellows and lavender. . . .how Spring/Easter can it get.

This is the long and the short of it for sure.

My holiday tables are set for eight.

Happy Almost Easter Everyone.
